How do I get paid for surfing?

Today more and more companies are emerging that will pay you for letting them show you advertisements while you spent time online. The most common way to do this is for you to download and install a company's view bar, a program that shows advertisements when it is running on your computer. The view bar takes up part of the screen when active, where it shows advertisement and lets you earn money. There are also some companies that you do not have to download anything from. You just log into a server to open up the view-bar and earn money. Still other companies have programs that show full screen advertisements once in a while.

What must I do to earn money?

Sign up to a company and use your computer while connected to the Internet (some companies require that you surf but not all) with that company's view-bar active. The view-bar records the time you are earning money (most view-bars have some sort of indicator showing when you are earning money) and if you have earned enough money when pay-out times come you will get a check.

What is a view bar?

A program that you download which when active on your screen shows advertisements and records the time you use it so that you earn money for that time.

What are referrals?

All companies pay you when the friends and family who you recruit earn money using their view-bar (they are called "direct referrals"). Most companies also pay you for your referrals recruits (called "extended referrals"). Extended referrals count from 1 level up to 6 levels, depending on the program, past your original referral.

How much can I earn from my referrals?

The rate varies from company to company, you can earn anything from 5% to 25% of what your referrals earn.

How much will I make?

It all depends on which company you choose to bring you the advertisement, how much time you spend online and how many referrals you can gather.

Do I have to surf the Internet to earn money?

It depends, some companies require that you have a web browser open and actively surf the internet while others will pay you for just being connected to the internet and actively using the computer.

Does it matter if I do not live in the United States?

Yes and no, most companies are international but some only operate in North America or other specific parts of the world. Check the Comparison page to see which companies operate in your country.

Is this a scam? It sounds too good to be true.

No it is not a scam. True that some companies are still in a testing stage of their view-bars and may never have paid any money but many are paying money every month and have the intention to keep doing so. This is a very effective way to advertise to a specific target group and advertisers spend good money on attracting us, the consumers.

What if I do not like this concept and want to quit?

Some companies encourage you to cancel your account (which normally can be done on the homepage) but most companies let you quit by simply stop using their view-bar.

Are there any rules or regulation I should know?

Yes. First, spaming is considered very rude and all companies will ban you from their service if you are caught spaming. Spam includes, but is not limited to, unsolicited emails and/or postings in discussion groups, bulletin boards, public domain groups, IRC, ICQ, and chat groups. Second, trying to cheat the view-bar to log more time than you are using it and other similar activities to cheat are of course also prohibited.

Why do I have to give out information about myself?

To target you with the right kind of advertisements the companies usually ask you for more or less information about yourself. The reason the advertisers pay so much is because the companies can focus the advertisement to special consumer groups. The industry seems to understand that this might pose a problem for some people, so every company I have seen so far promises in their Terms of Agreement not to sell your information to a third party.

Can I sign up for more than one company?

Yes of course, you can sign up for all of them. You can earn money from them all too by running all their view-bars at the same time. The only thing limiting you is the size of your screen and how much your computer can handle. Why only earn $1 an hour when you can use multiple programs and earn at least $4-5 an hour.

This sounds like a pyramid scheme is that what it is?

No, a pyramid scheme is when you pay something today for promised payoff in the future (that never will happen). Here you do not pay anything so you never stand to lose anything.

Which program should I choose?

That is a very difficult question to answer, it depends on many things. First, do you use the internet only for surfing or do you stay connected even when you are doing other things? In the second case you migth want to look for a program that gives you credit even if a internet browser is not your active window (Activity: No on the comparison page). Second, how many referrals do you think you can get to sign up? If you think that you can get many you want a program with a good referral system, else their pay-out rate for your surfing might be more important. If you are unsure or have questions do not hesitate to contact me, I will do my best to help you find the program that fits you best.
